Meet the Sisters and Guards

  • Sister Anita Selma Tacos

I wholeheartedly believe that embracing the path of becoming a Sister was a divine calling in my life, and this unwavering conviction has been my guiding light. My aspiration is to immerse myself fully in the vibrant Spokane community, not only to communicate with my fellow Sisters and community members but also to lend a compassionate ear. My mission is to spread love and bring joy to those in need, including those who may feel undeserving. Along my journey, I've discovered that every individual deserves love, including myself! Despite facing my own inner critic, battling fears, and wrestling with doubts, I've learned that simple laughter and abundant love have the power to accomplish remarkable things. I've experienced firsthand the profound sense of belonging that comes from being part of something greater than oneself. The catalyst that propelled me towards Sisterhood was a transformative encounter with a Sister who saved my life when I received my HIV diagnosis. Since then, I've been on a journey of healing, determined to be a beacon of support for others grappling with similar challenges. My deepest desire is to serve as a guardian of this community, paying forward the boundless love, joy, and happiness that have been generously bestowed upon me.

  • Sister Faegala Tina Pfischzoot

Sister Faegala Tina Pfischzoot---“That’s Yiddish for ‘Faggot in a Fish Suit’ !”Sister Faegala--#VintageDragMaNunOnTheLoose is a San Francisco native, who has been around the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence since the early days. Though she never formally professed in her homeland, she spent a lot of time with the Sisters in collaboration with her work with San Francisco Sex Information, many AIDS service organizations, the leather community, Black Leather Wings Radical Faeries, and agencies she worked with as a social worker. When she moved away from her beloved City by the Bay in 1996, she needed a break. Three years clean & sober and burned out from nearly two decades of AIDS/HIV activism and care, it was time to regroup, replenish, and focus on other endeavors for a while.….After 3 years in Northern California working in Special Ed in hi-risk schools and tending to her emu and ostrich farm, she moved to Port Townsend WA, a Victorian seaport on the National Registry of Historic Places—for 9 years. Moving to Nashville TN in 2008 was a huge change, and she wondered if she would ever see many of her friends, Sisters, faeries, queens, Leatherfolk and perverts she had left behind. A chance meeting of two faeries at an Adam Lambert GlamNation concert in Atlanta blew up her world…finding out that there were SISTERS and FAERIES everywhere in the South… and that Nashville had a house of Sisters! Months after hanging out with Sisters and new friends in Birmingham AL and Atlanta GA, she met a few Music City Sisters at the Atlanta Exequatur—and re-met Mish--one of the OG Founders of SPI! The rest is Sistory---so much has happened since then. As an Emeritus Sister of the Music City SPI. I am so blessed to have served as Co-Mistress of Missions of the UNPC—United Nuns Privy Council 2016-2022 with Sister Unity (Los Angeles SPI) and later with Ken Tagious. On May 2, 2022, (My recovery anniversary!) I relocated again to a farm in Deer Park WA--outside of Spokane--where I live with two SPI comrades formerly of Atlanta and now MOPI as well as Seattle Abbey of St Joan. I have had to slow down a bit over the last coupe years due to health concerns, but spreading JOY and banishing guilt comes in many packages. For now, my digital and armchair ministry has taken on new meaning! #SistersWithoutBorders #VintageDragMaNunWillNotBeDeterred

....and now I'm blessed to be part of the newest incarnation of Sisters in the Pacific Northwest... The Spokane Falls Sisters--Abbey of the Children of the Sun! Blessed Be!

  • Sister Reign BoDacious

I have always had a heart that wanted to speak for the voiceless, champion for the misunderstood and find ways to include everyone in the circle. I was a teenager when I first heard about AIDS and saw the alienation the stigma caused at a time when people most needed love, and hatred and isolation was the norm. I set a course to educate myself on things and then others. My life has been enriched by the things I have learned volunteering. With International students (dealing with being far from home, language, culture and family), and with At-risk children at camp learning to trust that “yes, there will be another meal”. Also, with refugees, we didn’t speak the same language but the need to belong and be accepted was the same. Finally, with SAN (Spokane AIDS Network) in 2003 having the privilege of being a smiling face welcoming people.

Celebrating 25 years of recovery has provided me with so many examples of meeting people where they are and loving them until they can learn to love themselves. As a Sister in The Spokane Falls Sisters I look forward to many more opportunities to share the journeys and celebrations with others looking for connection.

  • Guard Duke Kendoit

I became a member of the house in order to be of service and help others with their stigmatized guilt and shame. I have been a volunteer for HIV alliance in Eugene, OR, the Q center in Eugene, OR, I have volunteered for homeless shelters and several other places. I was homeless and deep in addiction for years living with my own guilt and shame about my sexuality and am now in a place to be able to share that with others.
